Should Corporate Blogs Really Be Talking About This?

In Blogs on July 31, 2007 at 3:06 am

Recently there was an article in ComputerWorld which addressed a new avenue for Corporate Blogging.  The issue entitled Corporate Blogs Take On an Edge, speaks on where these blogs are no longer talking about direct issues that effect the company, employees or products. What a novel idea!

One of the main challenges that arises after creating a blog is “how do you get the word out”? ….and now companies have an epiphany. If you write about hot topics in the news or edgy commentary more readers will be intrigued and there for flock to your blog. Once you have the audience you can throw other information pertinent to your company.

Just imagine how this can effect recruiting!

Technology Fixes Everything….

New Technology

There are some problems technology cannot fix.

New Technology can FIX everything…right?

In Recruiting, Technology on July 27, 2007 at 2:16 pm

As all our clients run screaming toward new technology to fix the woes of their recruitment issues…..What solution is best? Will any technology fix it…online chats, blogs, RSS, videos, networking sites….???

The answer is a resounding NO! Just because a technology exists does not mean it is the right solution for your organization. Many feel that technology will fix their recruiting problems, however it can not fix a process that is broken to begin with. It is time for organizations to conduct a “self evaluation” prior to pursuing any new technology.

Now don’t get me wrong technology can dramatically improve quality of hire, reduce time to fill, help locate quality candidates and reduce overall costs. However if the “basics” are not in place in the recruiting arena any technology that is implemented will not solve the problem.  SO take a step back and take a look at your current recruiting process and ask yourself….

  1. What is our current recruiting process?
  2. What are our short and long term goals and objectives?
  3. How is our Career site involved in our recruiting process?
  4. What is our strategy for College, Diversity, ERP, Alumni?
  5. Where are we currently being successful with our hires?
  6. What tool do we current have in place?
  7. How are we currently measuring our process?

No turning back…
