As long as I am starting to Blog, I may as well use this as a log to my training. This year I have committed myself to my first Triathlon http://www.uswts.com/il/welcome.htm. Yes who would have thought it? I am a swimmer by sport and everyone says that “Oh then you will be fine”. However they have never seen me run nor ride a bike. And so the journey begins…..
Last weekend I completed my first ever 8K http://www.shamrockshuffle.com/. I am still here to talk about it. So that is a step in the right direction, still living. It wasn’t as bad as what I thought….really I was shocked. I had slacked off on the running part of the training for the last month. Again I am still waiting for that “runner high” that is suppose to happen. Living in Chicago the only running has been on treadmills, which is really not fun. Considering the fact that you can’t space out on a treadmill since you will begin to weave and tehn eventually fall off. True, I was close but recovered with my “cat like” reflexes. I finished at a pace of a little over 10min miles, which I feel is not to shabby for someone who use to run on the treadmill and stare as each second………would……….slowly…..tick……..by. It was painful. I was at a fairly decent stride until the last half mile. Who’s idea was it to end the race going up hill? That was smart! I am sure whoever planned it sits back and watches as we choke, sweat and crawl our way up the hill.
All in all is was a great experience and I am currently looking to see what will be my next run prior to the Tri in June.
Hey you – love the blog and congrats on the triathalon and the training – you are motivating me to go for a run or a swim tonight – Thanks!
